Undoubtedly, while the Course aux stages is enriching and stimulating, it is also an intense and stressing period for most of the students who participate (don’t take my word for it: we heard it from the students themselves!). Given the circumstances, allow me to suggest inspiring music to help you prepare for this long-distance run.
Solo Piano I, II and III — Chilly Gonzales, Gentle Threat LTD, 2004, 2012 et 2018
Despite his pretentious airs, Chilly Gonzales does not take himself seriously. Here, we find the artist alone at the piano, in all simplicity. His music is intriguing and rich in images, as are the cover letters you will write to be invited for an interview…
Les entrailles de la montagne — Jean-François Bélanger, 2017
Jean-François Bélanger is a most talented artist, frequently praised by the critics. H eis a composer, a multi-instrumentalist and… a psychiatrist. If you’re going to be multitasking, don’t stop at the musical instruments. A pleasant mix of traditional music from Quebec and world music. Listen to this to take your mind away (while you’re working on your applications), all this without leaving home.
Simon I — Simon, La Tribu, 2015
I confess. I am a big fan of Les trois accords. I love their catchy melodies and totally far out lyrics. In 2015, Simon Proulx, the group’s leader and singer, released an original opus in English that’s worth listening to. Listen to it to get a bit of kick and to remind you not to be afraid to show a bit of your wild side during the interview.
Enjoy the music and the Course!
