Martin C\u00f4t\u00e9<\/a>\u2019s career began as a student in 2000, and he’s now a partner with our firm.<\/p>\n

What’s your area of practice?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Civil and commercial litigation. Over the years, I’ve developed special skills in areas like the right to reputation, real estate litigation and realisation of security, as well as in special measures (injunctions and contempt of court).<\/p>\n

How did you come to join RSS?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n

Just like many law students, I took part in the Course aux stages, which led me to settle here at the end of the process. I\u2019ve been here since the beginning of my career.<\/p>\n

\u200eWhat made you stay at RSS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many things. First, the people. Several of my colleagues have really become friends. I also found mentors here, who, over the years, provided strong guidance and shared some of their experience with me. I’ve also been lucky enough to work on some fascinating and complex cases. And, last but not least, the firm\u2019s\u00a0 prioritization of a work-life balance for its lawyers and staff.<\/p>\n

Could you elaborate on the work-life balance at RSS?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a father, I\u2019m very close with my kids and very much involved in their education. However, with a wife who’s also managing her career in the medical field, work-life balance is a major challenge for our family. Achieving it requires flexibility in terms of our schedules. RSS provides the understanding required for an optimal balance, and I always felt that the commitment to one\u2019s family is a fundamental value for the firm.<\/p>\n

Do you have any interests outside of work and family?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course! I’m a volunteer director of the childcare centre where my youngest kid goes. I’m also a director of a non-profit that operates and manages summer camps for children and teenagers. I’m aware of my privilege and think it’s really important to give back to the community. Finally, in my free time, I indulge in my passions for choral music, wine and fishing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
