Laurence Gauthier is a partner in our Insurance Law Group. Her practice focuses on insurance litigation, with a particular emphasis on professional and civil liability, latent defects, and construction law.

Laurence regularly appears before all Quebec courts, having been involved in a wide variety of cases concerning the liability of lawyers, notaries and accountants; insurance coverage matters; and numerous construction files, in which she has represented professionals such as engineers and building inspectors.


Representative files and mandates

  • Assisted with the pyrrhotite case, one of the largest latent defect cases in Quebec history. It involved lawsuits alleging the presence of pyrrhotite in several hundred residential properties and commercial buildings in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
  • Represented design engineers as a participant in the public hearings of the Commission of Inquiry into the collapse of a portion of the de la Concorde overpass
