Alice Bourgault-Roy’s practice focuses on mandates relating to professional and civil liability, and to insurance of persons.
She started her career in the litigation group of a large regional firm, where she managed files pertaining to various fields of law, mainly professional and real estate law. She then joined the legal department of a regulatory institution in the construction industry, where she performed various tasks as clerk of a disciplinary committee, prosecutor, and legal advisor to mechanical building systems contractors.
This experience allowed her to acquire skills in various, and sometimes arcane fields and to appear frequently before the courts. Throughout her career, Alice has been known for her thoroughness and her creativity, which allow her to reach optimal outcomes for her clients.
Alice joined the firm’s Insurance Law Practice Group in the beginning of 2019.
Alice frequently represents professionals under mandates from their liability insurance funds. She successfully defends notaries, accountants, lawyers, and other professionals when their professional liability is at stake.
Insurance of Persons
Alice also focuses on cases of insurance of persons, especially in life insurance, disability, or travel matters. She advises and represents insurers in litigation on claims for indemnities, coverage, and invalid or lapsed policies.
Drawing from her broad experience, Alice also handles numerous files related to general civil liability. She represents contractors, sellers, manufacturers, landlords, municipalities, corporations, and individuals in cases related to aspects as diverse as construction or manufacturing defects, bodily injuries and municipal law.
In addition to defence files, Alice frequently works on recovery cases for various insurers. She knows how to reach satisfactory and efficient settlements, frequently soon after the file has been opened.
