Once more, RSS demonstrates its community involvement

With almost a century of important presence on the Montreal and Quebec legal scenes, one of the core values of RSS has been service to our community. “Giving back” has been a refrain often heard through our corridors.

Almost every week throughout the years, members of the “RSS Family” have devoted their time, energy and resources to numerous charitable, healthcare, social and cultural organizations active in Montreal and Quebec. Many of our professionals have been amongst the leaders of our community and have occupied important positions in these organizations.

A recent example of an important role played by members of the RSS Family is that of our Partner Barry Shapiro. As one of the Trustees of the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, Barry, along with Armand Kessous, wealth manager to long-time RSS client David Bloomfield, were able to guide and advise Mr. Bloomfield and his wife Rose with respect to a $1,000,000 gift that they decided to make to support the Transitional Care Program at the JGH.

The Program provides support to children ages 4–12 who have graduated from the child psychiatry day and evening hospital programs of the JGH. The program helps these children reintegrate back into the schools from which they were removed or expelled for behavioral issues generally arising from their family situations.

This is another example where members of the RSS Family have been able to make a difference in the world by influencing our clients to help others. Obviously, this is in addition to the responsibility that each of us has to try and make the world a better place and to “give back” to our community.
