Important amendments to Quebec’s Health Insurance Act: Here’s why you should take notice

March 15, 2017 — For years now, the Health Insurance Act has required insurers to notify the Régie de l’assurance maladie when they began negotiating the settlement of a claim arising from an injury likely to entail the payment of insured services.

The scope of this obligation was amended in December: it is now triggered as soon as the insurer becomes aware of the event.
